Penfolds Magill Estate

Reinstatement of edible internal landscape and extensive street frontages formed the main challenges of this project. The area is the last remaining vineyard in Adelaide.

The landscape provides new buildings with spaces of considerable simplicity, while maintaining the strong working landscape character. Most plants bear fruits or are beneficial in some other way. The street frontage with intermittent cypress hedges and lavender planting contributes to the unmistakable identity of the place.

The new restaurant is surrounded by multiple rows of newly transplanted old grapes. Its entry area contains a pool which mediates between outside and inside.
